Wini is a Speech-Language Pathologist, clinical director and co-founder of Mercury Speech and Language.

Wini recognized her passion for communication from an early age. A big talker and an avid writer throughout grade school, she had a keen sense of the power of language. It was through her interest in horses and her work in therapeutic horseback riding that Wini discovered her gift for connecting with kids, especially those with neurological and cognitive differences. It was also through therapeutic riding that Wini’s path toward becoming an SLP was uncovered and she pursued that goal with tireless determination. After graduating from UBC with a degree in Speech Sciences she continued to explore child development and early intervention for children on the Autism Spectrum. She spent the next six years as a behavioural interventionist working within the Reference and Regulate curriculum. Her devotion to providing inclusive, naturalistic, and play-based intervention was fostered during this time which deepened her resolve to provide neurodiversity affirming therapies to kids of all ages. Wini has additional interests in working with kids experiencing phonological disorders as well as persistent speech sound errors. During both her undergraduate and graduate studies, Wini undertook research using ultrasound. This tool can provide students with visual feedback on the movement and positioning of their tongue during speech tasks and Wini has been using ultrasound as part of her intervention approach especially for persistent errors in /r/ sounds.

Wini graduated from UBC School of Audiology and Speech Sciences in 2016 and has been growing in her clinical and professional role as an SLP ever since. She is endlessly creative and energetic. She works with students of all ages but has a particular connection with preschoolers. Wini’s approach is multi-modal, movement oriented, and collaborative with the goal of functional, independent, and internally motivated communication for everyone.
